Day 4 - Yellowstone Wonderland

We said good bye to our AirBnB in Victor, ID today and headed to Yellowstone. As we left, our host recommended we see Upper Mesa Falls, just outside the west entrance to Yellowstone. They were beautiful.

As we continued through Yellowstone to our new lodgings just outside the east entrance we were able to see bison, hot springs, waterfalls, the famous Grand Canyon of Yellowstone, and miles of forest that were burned down in the big fire of 1988.

The iconic view of Yellowstone. Gorgeous!

Boiling Mudpots Are So Strange
Colorful painter's pots created by the chemicals that bubble up from the hot springs

Beryl Hot Springs. It's amazing that such hot water and steam are coming out of the ground right in front of us!

The bison held up traffic, but we got a good close up view!

What a long drive from one side of the park to the other. There is nothing on the west side where the forest burned. We reached the turn off to our cabin, which was down a dirt road out in the woods. No heat but we do have a space heater (It’s chilly here at this time). No internet (I’m writing this in the office lobby). No TV, except in the lobby. This is RUSTIC! Rich and Vicki, you are probably glad you didn’t join us here!

Our rustic retreat!

The lodge did serve a nice dinner though. Tomorrow we are going to cut our stay here short though. A little too rustic and too far away from everything for us!
